INDIGENOUS PARTICIPATION

We focus on the following areas:

Relationships – By respecting, and having knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their cultures, Menzies staff, clients and contractors will deepen their connections to enable the provision of culturally respectful and appropriate services.

We hope to commit to fostering a culture of learning from and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and view reconciliation and cross-cultural learning as a dynamic and continuous process.

Respect – Menzies is committed to working in a respectful partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Building respect is a two-way process that is constructive and rewarding for all involved, and results in lowering of unintended barriers. We will learn from each other.

Opportunities – Opportunities’ is about: developing our capacity to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to develop service opportunities; how, where and when to deliver our services so that more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are able to access every part of life they choose; becoming an employer of choice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Measurements and Accountabilities

Menzies is committed to increase awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures by providing a foundation for our business to make a strong contribution to advancing reconciliation.

Menzies has an Indigenous Advisory Board who together provide guidance and direction for the development and implementation of policies and procedures and always looks for advancements within this area. The Advisory Board is made up of key executive personnel and external industry Indigenous leaders.

Key targets which the Menzies outline are as follows:

  • Increase First Nations employment from 1.8% to 4.5% by 2025
  • Increase procurement of First Nations subcontractors and suppliers to 3.5% by 2025
  • Development of a tailored First Nations management career pathway

Subcontractors and Suppliers Commitment

Menzies is committed to ensure that the entire supply chain within its control adheres to both its Indigenous Participation Plan (IPP) and the upcoming renewed Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

In order to achieve this, Menzies will ensure that relevant terms and conditions are placed into any formal agreement (such as the subcontractor agreement) entered into with a subcontractor and/or supplier which will bind the subcontractor and/or supplier to Menzies own IAP and RAP.
